Oakland Cemetery

Sunday before last, my mom and Jonathan picked me up to go to Candler Park Fall Festival, take pictures at Oakland Cemetery, and eat dinner at Nickiemoto's.

We parked on Sky's street to go to the festival and walked. Sky decided to come with, so that was nice since I don't see him that much these days (what with me living in Marietta and him not having a car). The festival was fun, and there was a lot of cool stuff, but I'm pretty broke. We had overpriced, overcooked gyros and water ice, and I had a beer poured down my back. Sweet! I did get the business card of this lady from Decatur who does cartoon-y animal portraits. Perhaps our furry beasts will be immortalized in her style some day.

After the Fall Fest, we said bye to Sky and headed down to Oakland Cemetery. What a daunting task it appeared to be when I first stood at the gates. The place is huge - a whopping 88 acres. At its purchase in 1850, the then 'Atlanta Graveyard' or 'City Burial Place' was only six acres. For more on its history, check out the official website maintained by The Historic Oakland Foundation. Here is the link to my flickr set. Be sure to check out the captions; I described and explained some of the things I photographed. Below are a few of my favorites (click for detail; they were uploaded at original size!): Dinner at Nickimoto's was absolutely delicious, especially after all that walking. Nothing like some $1 sushi and a good Cosmo. :]

Fall staples...

As Fall approaches (as when every Fall approaches), I get super-nervous about how I'm going to stay warm. If you know me, you know that I'm always cold and that I absolutely DREAD cold weather. I have been known to wear winter coats and not even realize how hot I'm getting until I feel like I'm about to pass out. Sweet, huh?

This season, I got a head start on a few nice staples to my impending Fall/Winter wardrobe. Of course, they all happened to be awesome deals.

My mom got these for me a couple months ago at DSW on a serious sale. They are BCBG and she got them for something obscene like 70% or 80% off of the already marked down price. Scoooore!

I scored this cutie at Aeropostale, of all places. We barely ever go in there anymore, because their stuff is basically the same handful of rehashed patterns every season. Luckily, I saw this, AND IT WAS $10! Oh, how I love gray/dark/black denim washes!
These...are the best. I love Express, but I love it most during their quarterly sales. These are The Editor Pant in Premiere Stretch with a flared leg. I haven't worn flare leg anything in ages, but goddamn do these pants look hot with the BCBG pumps.

Now I need to find some new shirts, sweaters, and jackets on the cheap!

Bjork, Amy, Knocked Up...

The Bjork pictures are trapped on my camera. I accidentally left the memory card out of the camera that night and can't find the USB cable for it. The pictures are terrible anyway since I couldn't use flash at The Fox. But yeah, whenever I can find that USB cable in the sea of crap that is my office, I'll post them.

MySpace is a son-of-a-bitch.
I recently started talking to my best friend from when I went to Wheeler, Amy Allrid (now Burkeen). We basically haven't seen each other since 1999, and we hung out for the first time on September 18th.

We went to eat Mexican food at a place on Roswell Road and then went to hang out at her house afterward. Nothing spectacular, but it was nice and we had fun. Then we hung out this past Tuesday (September 25th). We got coffee and went shopping (see story in the other blog). She met Rich last Thursday when we had her over for dinner. We ate chicken/steak quesadillas made by Chef Rich and watched Knocked Up.
I really liked Knocked Up. It got a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is insane. I've loved Seth Rogen ever since Freaks and Geeks, so I couldn't wait to see this. A lot of people hated the movie because they couldn't believe that the characters would realistically be together due to their physical appearances. Who wouldn't want to cuddle Seth Rogen? No one I want to be friends with! He's a big cuddly bear! A lot of people also hated it because they thought it was misogynistic. People need to loosen the fuck up. The humor was right up my alley.

This is a lame update as far as amount of content goes, but there will be another post about this past weekend soon...
