Catching up...

Our trip down to Florida was interesting. I think this was one of the first times that Rich had been off of a major road in the South, so his reaction to rural Alabama was priceless. At one point on the way back, he literally told me to take his Mets hat off of the dashboard so we wouldn't get beat up (someone's seen Deliverance one too many times? :P).

On the way there, we stopped in Dothan, Alabama for some BBQ and I had the best chopped pork sandwich I've ever had. If you ever go through Dothan to get to the panhandle, I highly suggest stopping at Dobbs.

We took Bronson with us. He was a very good doggie, got along very well with my grandparents, and he loved hanging out with us at the pool (no doggies allowed on the beaches there :[ ). Stuff we did in Florida:

  • Went to show Rich my grandparents' other house down the street
  • Played in the pool
  • I went to water aerobics at the club with my grandma
  • Went to the beach three days in a row (where on the third day, Rich brought his cell phone into the Gulf :[ )
  • Went to a free concert in my grandparents' neighborhood
  • Went to eat at The Donut Hole for breakfast
  • Went to see Halloween at the movies (5/5!)
  • Went to have brunch at the club with my grandparents

  • Went to see one of the 2007 Southern Living Idea Homes (I'll put those pictures in the other blog)
  • Finally bought The Big Lebowski on DVD, but fell asleep watching it
  • I went to an artshow in Sandestin with my gradparents while Rich stayed behind to do Econ homework (he ended up dropping the class, though)

As if Labor Day Weekend wasn't enough fun, I inherited Braves tickets from my Office Manager the next day. After the Mets spanked the Braves over Labor Day Weekend, a lot of Braves fans kind of turned off. Therefore, I ended up with these all-you-can-eat tickets since Joe knew that I also like the Phillies.

I didn't notice where it said "LEXUS PAVILION" in caps on the tickets (durrr), so it was a surprise when we got up there. I just thought we would be in the upper deck!
Overall, it was a good game. The Phillies spanked the Braves, and Ryan Howard hit a home run in the first!

That same night, Rich picked up his new bike (he sold the crappy one soon after). The new bike is a 1994 Honda Magna VF750. It's pretty badass. I know he's enjoying it a lot more than the Suzuki he just had, and I like it a lot more than the old Kawasaki we had in Texas. Woo!

That Thursday, Rich and I went down to the city and hung out with Kevin. We ate at Savage Pizza, went to get ice cream at Zesto, and then went to say hey to Sky since it was his birthday (my little bro is 22!!!).My pizza: white garlic sauce, red peppers, and artichokes.Rich and Kevin: bears on a date.

The next night, we went to the drive-in to see 3:10 to Yuma and War. I'm a sucker for both Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, so I really enjoyed 3:10 to Yuma (4/5). There were a few silly moments, but nothing really unforgiveable. War was just plain bad. I don't know what the fuck Jet Li is thinking.

That Saturday (the 8th), we went out for Sky's birthday. We ate, played miniature golf, and rode go-karts at Startime in Roswell. We had a lot of fun. It was so cute seeing how stoked my mom was on the go-karts!Balls!Important lesson from my mom: why carry a purse when the essentials fit in your cleavage? The go-kart graveyard.Shootin mothafuckas at the saloon.

This past Friday, we went to go see a screening of Troll 2 at the Midtown Arts Theater with Kevin, Jill, Carla, Ryan, and Mike. Rich, Kevin, Jill, Laura, and I went to Fellini's for dinner beforehand. I didn't know what to expect, but the movie was wonderfully ridiculous. Definitely a 5/5.

On Saturday, my parents and grandparents came over for dinner. My grandparents were on their way to PA for some medical testing to make sure my grandpa's health is ok from the cancer, and they were staying at my mom's house for a day before doing the rest of the trip, so I suggested we have dinner at our house so that they could check out our place. We had lasagna and garlic bread that my mom made, and salad and carrot cake cupcakes that I made.

My mom also brought me my loot from Brazil. I got a pair of Havaianas (Rich got black ones), coconut bangles, little pouches with caricatures of Sugarloaf Mountain on them, and I dress I've yet to receive because she wanted to get it dry cleaned first. Score!

So life is good right now. Coming up: Bjork, catching up with an old friend, & Halloween.
